How we removed water from our Flooding basement

Only five days after we moved into our new house our basement flooded! We had no idea what happened or why until we checked the footer tile pipe and found it frozen solid with a huge piece of ice stuck in it! We live on top of a hill so it was very confusing why this happened. Turns out it was a freak incident, and it should never happen again!

Luckily, Chance and my brother, are handy and they were able to take up all the old carpet and foam padding and get it out quickly. Using a Milwaukee Pump Transfer we managed to get the water under control quickly even though there was up to 1 ½” of standing water in some spots. The transfer pump worked so great! We hooked it up to a garden hose and had the water go down the shower drain. We wouldn’t have been able to get all of the water out ourselves without this tool.

We also set up two dehumidifiers, a 50 pint, and a 35 pint to help get the moisture out of the basement! We really like the Perfect Aire brand, they were easy to set up and they are quiet!

The basement was going to be the last thing on our remodel to-do list and now it is at the top! We aren’t going to do it all at once though. Right now it’s just the floor, and we will loop back around once the main level projects are completed.
